Product description

About Swedish Stockings

Each year, two billion pairs of tights are produced, worn a few times and then discarded, making the textile industry the second most polluting industry in the world. Landfills are full of low quality and cheap non-biodegradable textiles - and it's getting worse. Nylon yarn is currently used to produce most modern pantyhose and is created from an environmentally harmful petroleum-based manufacturing process that is not only bad for the planet, but also produces pantyhose that don't last.

These harmful practices in the fashion industry are all too common. We believe the world needs more innovative and environmentally conscious products to lead the way, and so Swedish Stockings was born. A forerunner in sustainably produced nylon stockings, Swedish Stockings produce beautiful pantyhose from recycled yarn. Our factories engage in sustainable practices including the use of eco-friendly dyes, post-dyeing water treatment and solar power for much of the energy needed in the production process.

Our Mission

We want to reinvent the entire hosiery industry. We create our pantyhose from both pre and post-consumer nylon waste. The production process is less harmful to the environment than traditional nylon production and we are consistently looking for innovative and cleaner ways to produce - conserving or reusing water, decreasing emissions, reducing and recycling waste.

Recycling Program

Thousands of stockings have been recycled thanks to our recycling program. Contact us to learn more about it and become part of the solution, not the cause.

I twisted them slightly to straighten and they ripped immediately. I didn’t even get to wear once

1.0 out of 5 stars Ripped Even Before One Wear

I was very disappointed that supposedly durable tights would do this. After reading and seeing a lot of great reviews for these tights elsewhere, I decided to give them a try. They ripped as I was pulling them up. I think I'll contact customer service to give them another try, maybe I didn't stretch them out enough?

2.0 out of 5 stars Fine quality but not durable

Beautiful, fine material. Feels luxurious, and I appreciate that it's eco-friendly. Rips very easily. I got one wear out of these, and kept getting new runs throughout the day so by the end of the day they were a mess. Costly per wear, and I won't repurchase. Wish they'd make a higher denier in nude shades, as it would likely be more durable. I want to support their mission, but will not repurchase this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ripped While Putting Them on the FIRST Time!
Reviewed in the United States on 12 August 2019

I was expecting luxurious, well-made, thick tights - these being Swedish, after all. I was sorely disappointed. Not only were these indistinguishable from the cheap pantyhose (like L'Eggs) that I wore decades ago, they RIPPED while I was putting them on for the first time. I was careful, as I always am with hose, and I don't have long or ragged fingernails, yet my fingers just went right through the thin material, resulting in a big hole. I had to wear them for my special event, since I didn't have a back-up, and the hole didn't show under my long dress, but I had to throw them away at the end of the day. What a huge disappointment, especially considering how outrageously expensive these tights were. And I'm being generous, calling them tights - there's really just overpriced pantyhose. Zero stars.
