Growing up on the beach, the founders of Fair Harbor had instilled in them a love and respect for the ocean. The brother and sister duo refer to their hometown as a barefoot community, where all you needed was a swimsuit and a bike.

Seeing the increasing amount of waste washing up on their shores they wanted to do something positive, so they started Fair Harbor. Their goal is to create ultra-comfortable beachwear made from recycled plastic bottles.

“Our goal with Fair Harbor was to create the best boardshorts on the planet while doing our part to keep the oceans we love clean from plastic waste.”

Jake Danehy (Founder of Fair Harbor)

Being surfers they have designed boardshorts and swim trunks with function in mind. Made from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles they also reduce plastic waste.

So far, Fair Harbor has upcycled over 3 million plastic bottles. Fair Harbor has a recycling program for your old boardshorts as well. We love companies that take their products back at the end of their life.

Fair Harbor: Recycled Material

Recycled PET plastic made from post-consumer plastic bottles. They also use tree bark (Tencel) and spandex in their classic long-sleeved top.

Closing the Loop

Fair Harbor is closing the loop with its own swimsuit recycling program. You can send them your old bathing suits and they will make sure they get recycled plus you get a 5% credit off your next purchase. The old suits are sent to 2ReWear who turns them into insulation or material for rugs. Great stuff!
