Paravel has created a beautiful range of luggage and travel accessories, bringing circular living to travel. They demonstrate their commitment to sustainable design by using as many recycled materials as possible and ensuring they have the right certifications and standards.

The co-founders, Indré Rockefeller and Andy Krantz started Paravel in 2016 by bringing together their love for travel and the environment. They searched for luggage that met all their demands for sustainability but, in the end, decided they would have to create it themselves.

This gorgeous luggage is made with recycled polycarbonate, lined with recycled fabric made from post-consumer plastic water bottles. In addition, they use recycled zippers, aircraft-grade recycled aluminum for their handles, and recyclable, vegan leather for the details. They also have a range of travel accessories and bags made with the same sustainability design standards.

In 2020 Paravel successfully created the first-ever carbon-neutral suitcase. They offset all of the emissions from sourcing, assembly, shipping, and delivery to you. They even offset the estimated carbon emissions for your first trip with your Aviator luggage.

Luggage built with the circular economy principles. If I needed some new luggage, this would be my choice.

Paravel: Recycled Materials

Paravel uses recycled polycarbonate for the exterior of their suitcases. Negative Nylon™, a lightweight and water-resistant fabric made from 100% post-consumer plastic water bottles. Plus, Paravel’s Negative Nylon™ has the sustainable stamp of approval from the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and the Global Recycle Standard.

Their tote and duffel bags are made with Ecocraft canvas. This fabric is made from natural cotton fibers combined with thread from recycled plastic bottles resulting in a durable canvas. The canvas is protected from stains by an environmentally friendly silicone coating. This recycled fabric is also approved by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and the Global Recycle Standard.

They also use recycled zippers and aircraft-grade recycled aluminum for their handles.

Other non-recycled materials used by Paravel include:

  • Vegan Leather – their preferred vegan leather is TPU, which is a thermoplastic polyurethane.
  • Better Leather – natural leathers in their canvas bags are sourced under the standards of the Leather Working Group ensuring that it is made in the highest quality conditions and has the lowest possible impact.
