Founded by Carin Van Grunsven and her husband Gerhard Sandker, PLOYS transforms old and broken PVC pool inflatables into unique bags, purses, phone cases, and more. Saving them from landfill and giving them a second life.
PLOYS started back in January 2020 when the husband and wife team were looking for an alternative for their old damaged pool toys. Knowing that PVC takes more than 1000 years to decompose and recycled options were limited they decided to upcycle the sturdy material into something useful. Starting with school pencil cases they’ve now expanded their range to include tote bags, sports bags, toiletry bags, purses, smartphones, laptops, and IPad cases. They have even started designing earrings. You can check out some of their fantastic products below.
It wasn’t long before Carin and Gerhard’s old pool toys were transformed into new products so they needed to find a supply of discarded pool toys. To solve this problem they created a reverse supply chain to collect old and discarded pool toys. They have established partnerships with Alma Ocean and Sunny Life pool inflatables and have drop-off locations throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory.
