    Growing up on the beach, the founders of Fair Harbor Clothing had instilled in them a love and respect for the ocean. They refer to their hometown as a barefoot community, where all you need was a swimsuit and a bike.

    They wanted to do something positive about the growing plastic waste problem, so they started Fair Harbor Clothing.

    Their swimwear is made from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. Through their processes, they transform them into eco-friendly swimwear fabric. It’s incredible that, to date, they have upcycled over 2 million bottles.

    A family-run business built on a deep appreciation for the ocean’s role in nurturing a happier planet. Joseph & Alexander designs quirky, environmentally conscious recycled swimwear for kids.

    Their swimsuits are made from ECONYL®, a 100% regenerated nylon constructed from abandoned fishing nets and nylon waste from landfills and oceans worldwide.

    We love companies that give a little back. They are committed to donating 10% of their annual profits to Plastic Ocean UK. A charity raising awareness of plastic pollution as a call to action to protect our beautiful and vulnerable oceans.

    Vissla has taken the waste husks from coconuts and combined them with Repreve, a recycled polyester, to make their own unique fabric called Coctex®. They say this fabric’s properties are everything you could ever wish for in a pair of trunks.

    Made with quality, durability, and comfort in mind, the Seasalt kids recycled swimmers are also sustainable. As with many of the fabulous recycled swimwear brands, they use Econyl, a recycled nylon fabric. They also have swimsuits made from recycled PET made from recycled plastic bottles.

    Noma Swimwear

    A business on a mission to do the right thing, Noma is starting with making beautiful, sustainable swimwear. Using the recycled nylon fabric Econyl, Noma has created recycled swimwear designs that avoid the obvious gender stereotypes.

    Noma encourages you to pass their swimwear between siblings. An easy thing with their gender-neutral designs. When you have passed them round from siblings to cousins to nieces and nephews, and there is no life left in them, you can send them back. You will get a voucher for your next purchase.

    The technology for recycling swimwear back into swimwear is not yet there, but Noma is working on it.

    Noma has also committed to donating 1% of their profits to Healthy Seas, a non-profit that collects ghost nets from the ocean.

    Palma Swim

    Palma Swim was born out of a disaster, Hurricane Maria, to be precise. It devastated the island of Puerto Rico in 2017. Palma Swims founder, Quiria Rodriguez Romano, was inspired by the recovery of her island of Puerto Rico.

    Seeing all the plants, trees, and beaches coming back with more strength, she created Palma Swim. A line of swimwear representing all the palm trees that stood and the ones that will stand in the future, helping to remind people of the beauty to be enjoyed.

    They use recycled polyester fabric made from recycled plastic bottles in their boy’s swim trunks.

    Plus, they donate 3% of their sales to a citizen engagement organization, Mentes Puertorriqueñas en Accion Inc. Its main goal is to inspire young people to make Puerto Rico their life project.
